After studying medicine for a brief period in 1975, Nico van Burick switched over to a career in journalism. Today he is probably the only journalist in the country with experience of industrial publications, national newspapers, national magazines, radio journalism, TV reporting and TV productions. In his career of more than 30 years he was editor of the Army Newspaper, Uniform, military correspondent for Die Transvaler, radio and TV reporter at the SABC, news editor at TV news, executive producer of the actuality programme, Agenda, general manager of an independant radio station, agricutural reporter at Beeld and these days news editor at Landbouweekblad. In the early days he received the SA Association for Industrial Editors award for the best external newspaper. Then followed an Artes award for TV news reporting, a Star Tonight award for best magazinne programme and two John Deere awards for agricultural journalist of the year.
